Email CAN-SPAM Act: (Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography AndMarketing Act of 2003) A U.S. statute effective January 1, 2004 that states spammerscan be fined up to $6 million. CAN-SPAM further delineates processes valid email senders must take in order to avoid being spam. Message headers must contain accurate subjectlines and valid email return addresses. Ad emails must state they are ads and containsimple means to opt-out of future emails. If recipients opt-out, advertisers must cease sending to the email address after ten days have passed.
